The Alabama Board of Tourism recently released it’s 2010 findings on top tourist destinations throughout the state. The first attraction in Alabama for 2010 was the Robert Trent Jones golf course, headquartered in Birmingham but with courses throughout Alabama (including Huntsville’s Hampton Cove community.) Number 2 was the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (yep, you guessed it – it’s also in HUNTSVILLE!) and rounding out the top 5 was the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. I serve on the Botanical Garden’s Board of Directors, so I was extremely pleased to read that bit of happy news.
The full report provided by the Alabama Board of Tourism (www.alabama.travel/) with numbers and categories can be viewed here: http://www.icontact-archive.com/37bP6_LgXIjKQsDyb6XjHjokm5G6Vhb3 Categories include top “free” destinations, state parks, sporting arenas and more. Take a look and remember : if you are to do three of the top five things that attract folks to Alabama, you’d better plan to “Come Home to Huntsville.”
